Question: For current RPA pilots looking to go to manned aircraft but went through the URT pipeline (T-6 sim only), do they apply to UPT boards or Rated boards?

We are rated pilots… but never took flight in a real T-6.

In my experience having applied at many units, it’s a crap shoot – each unit is different. You can always give them a call to see when their rush weekends are… this will give them a chance to put your face to your name which may help your application get selected. Have you considered becoming an RPA pilot? You’ll have a higher age cap (I believe it’s around 40 years old) and will likely see some action.

There are waivers for most things – you don’t know until you try (and keep trying until you reach your goal). I was told “Thank you for applying but we have selected someone else” more times than I can remember over a 3-4yr span before I was selected by my current unit.
