Hey dude, I’m also a Navy SWO but at 3 1/2 year mark… I just took the AFOQT like 3 months ago, just got offered an interview for a squadron and a rush invite for another, it’s totally possible. From my understanding it isn’t uncommon to work conditional releases to go to UPT out of the Navy into Air guard. I’m also working hard to bail out…

“I interviewed today to be a KC-46 pilot at my old squadron (70th air refueling squadron) where I was a KC-10 flight engineer for 5 years.

They hired me on the spot!”

First time: AFOQT pilot: 66, PCSM: 67

Second time: AFOQT pilot: 99, PCSM: 91

That PCSM score is from only taking the TBAS once, so it shows how much improving your pilot score helps, and I also had max flight hours for both of those scores. Hope this helps.

My first pilot score was a 66. I then decided to invest in 3 months of one on one tutoring with @Tutor-Gunboss and improved my pilot score to a 99. I believe the third time still requires a waiver, but study like your second time taking the test is your last. It’s worth taking the extra steps with tutoring and making an investment in your…

Thank you for the quick reply Clinton. All I need is a sliver of hope (and decent test scores) and I’m going to go for it.

Ya I’d second what Slap said. When I was a hiring guy I lost and gained folks in these situation. There are always ready alternates eager to jump at the chance and most units are jealous – they only want to love people who love them the most.

A difficult convo but I’d recommend your friend have it as early as possible.
