AFOQT QUANT Score
Hello everyone. At this current time my goal is to be accepted into a heavy unit within the ANG or Reserves. I Have been applying to several units for the past year. I am pretty satisfied with my package and In my opinion stands out well from the crowd except for my AFOQT quant score.
I received a… 13. It is passing which is the important thing, but I definitely could have practiced a bit more beforehand.
every time I send in my package I always find something to improve on but that 13 is such an eyesore. Some have told me that the quant score doesn’t mater very much and that as long as it is passing. Others have said that some units are setting a minimum score across the board and that if you don’t make the cut you are eliminated. And its hard to get specific feedback for non-selection as well to discern if my quant score being the reason. With there being as many applicants as there are it is entirely understandable why they cannot extend that courtesy to everyone.
I get that its a whole person concept, I just want some feedback to if I am wasting my time focusing on improving other portions of my packet when I should be hammering on my math skills. I have been actively applying for only a year and I am 24, so do I just need to be more patient? How common is it currently for people to be selected with low quant scores?
I have been studying and I know that the 13 is not the best I can do, but since I only have one more shot to improve my scores I want to make sure I make it count.
Any comments and recommendations would be greatly appreciated
