How can I make my resume more competitive?
Hi everyone I am looking to get some tips on how I can become a more competitive candidate for UPT?
I am a 19 year old instrument rated private pilot with about 150 hours, working on my commercial certificate which I should be able to get by early to mid 2024. I do not have a college degree yet, but was looking at getting my BS in Aviation from Liberty online, which I would be able to get in 2-3 years since I already have some pilot ratings. Would that degree from that school be sufficient to become an officer?
I graduated highschool with a 3.88 GPA (out of 4). I played football and cross country, but never had any leadership positions. I was also in AFJROTC for 3 of my 4 years where I did have some leadership positions.
My goal is to take the AFOQT/TBAS in 2025, and apply to a bunch of ANG units as soon as I qualify. The main question I have now is what can I do in the mean time to increase my chances? What leadership opportunities should I be looking for?
In the mean time, Ill keep studying, flying, and working hard.

Work in volunteer organizations can help your resume.

Get a service-oriented job. That made me stand out on my resume being just 21.

For heavies, I’ve had multiple units mention the volunteer experience on my resume.

Definitely work to get your Undergraduate Degree completed. You must have that to go to OTS
