TBAS tips and tricks for all their sections?
Posted by warwolf on December 21, 2023 at 4:00 pmSo I’ve decided to retake the TBAS to improve my scores. Currently it sits at an 87 with full flight hours. I bought the TBAS test prep for 60 bucks and have been hard at work practicing for all the various sections.
I am curious how can I maximize my scores on all of these sections. What are the techniques for each of these sections so that I can maximize my score? In this test prep I seem to get unlimited tries but I understand the actual test will obviously be limited. I’m not sure how limited it will be tho

Bumping this thread as well.
I’m currently practicing with the software and I’ve been recording my results but I have nothing to compare it to except my previous results. I’ve seen improvement since I started but I don’t really know where I’m at. I messed up my first TBAS pretty bad (67 PCSM with 99 pilot and 10 hrs) so I’m pretty motivated to not mess it up again.
Also, the tracking portion on the real thing IS inverted, right? The prep software has the option to un-invert it and it’s made me question my memory.

I managed to increase my score from 83 to 90 by practicing. The first time around, I did very poorly on the UAV section. This time I only missed 3, but still didn’t get to a 99. I figure I’ll take my 90 and not risk it going down.

I saw a YT video on how to ace the UAV Part. For the multi-tasking part I did an retangular scan and did’t stare at one portion for too long.

The TBAS is and always has been a little bit more hard to prepare for. The Air Force does this purposefully as they try to keep the test somewhat secret. That said, nowadays, there are definitely good tools to prepare for the test, such as the video posted above. Here’s an additional link to help prepare for the directional SA (UAV) portion: https://www.proprofsflashcards.com/story.php?title=_36014
Remember you can always take this test twice with a minimum of 90 days between takes.
Hope this helps!

I retook the TBAS and managed to up my score to 92! I’m not entirely sure how well I did on the other portions but on the UAV section I got a full 100!

I think the biggest thing is mental endurance, the ability to focus while fatigued. Figure out a scan technique for the sections that work for you. That would help with the workload to make you more efficient. Test Prep was pretty spot on.
I remember my brain screaming for a break but you just gotta push through.
I got a 98

This is a great practice program: https://tbastestprep.com/ I recommend getting a joystick and throttle so you are practicing like the real test.

Ditch the flash cards, flight simiulators, and random internet forums. The TBAS Test Prep Tools are by far the best way to prepare yourself for the grueling

Does the TBAS still have the EP section where you have to memorize different EPs and corresponding corrective actions (letters on the keyboard) ?
