Job Description:
Gem Air is based in Salmon, Idaho; our operations include Idaho backcountry flying, Idaho commuter flights, and cargo flights for UPS out of Boise and Salt Lake City. We are looking for a pilot to join our cargo flight crew based in Boise, ID. You’ll need to be IFR current, and we will give a strong preference to those with part 135 experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all duties of a Pilot in Command for our part 135 operations.
Ensure aircraft are operated to the highest level of safety and professionalism.
Fully understand and follow the policies and procedures contained in company manuals.
Maintain and constantly strive to improve our relationship with UPS.
Help load packages when appropriate, and help unload at outstations (must be able to lift 50lbs)
Consistently fill out necessary paperwork in an accurate and legible manner.
Assist in accurately monitoring hours and cycles on aircraft until next aircraft inspection is due or other maintenance work is to be completed.
Communicate with supervisor and maintenance about upcoming maintenance events.
Assist in tracking needed check rides and training, and communicate needs with supervisor and schedulers.
Other duties as required.
THE EXPECTATIONS
Take pride in your work, and the company! You, as the pilot, will be the final authority of whether your flight is safe and legal to fly or not. You’ll take into account all federal regulations, weather information, maintenance information and other relevant information into account when making that decision. You will work with the rest of the Gem Air team to make sure things get done well and efficiently, and help us solve problems that may come up. You will help UPS in any way you can, and help to maintain the great working relationship we currently enjoy. You will conduct yourself in a professional business manner at all times.
THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
You will fly a Cessna Caravan 208B. The environments are cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and the work does require some time spent outside in those environments.
The schedule is 4 days/week out of 6 possible days, Monday-Saturday. Schedule can usually be set a month or more in advance. Not infrequently, you will be offered additional flying for other business segments (usually passenger flights) on active days in addition to the route, and/or extra days of flying the route to help cover for other pilots’ vacation, both of which merits additional pay.

Job Requirements:
Must meet Part 135 IFR Requirements
Minimum 1200 hours
Minimum 100 hours night
Certification for SEL and MEL
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform moderately strenuous physical tasks
Must be able to commit to at least 4-days/ week with some seasonal variations in workloads.
