Did you know on Active Duty there are opportunities to go on Exchange with other countries and other services? I had the unique opportunity to serve with the Royal Australian Air Force for three glorious years. They flew the F-18F (and later EA-18G) and I was one of two exchange officers that flew from the United States with 1SQN at Amberley. In like kind, the Australians sent two aviators back to the US to serve with the US Navy and two with the United States Air Force at different locations.
There were around 100 of these different exchange positions across the world. In Australia there was a USAF C-17 pilot on exchange that lived next door to us, there was a Tanker pilot on the KC-30 at Amberley as well. These are incredible niche opportunities that open the door to liaison positions in your future.
Just one more reason to think about Active Duty Service. Would you like one of these positions?
Allen, Alexis Horstman and 4 others-
The exchange tour opportunities are a big reason why I decided to step on the Active Duty Gas Pedal. I would love to fly the EA-18G at NASWI or imbed with another nation’s aviators if given the opportunity!
