During World War II, George Bush Sr. flew the Grumman TBM Avenger on several key air missions, with the majority occurring during his stint aboard the light aircraft carrier USS San Jacinto (CVL-30).<div>
Check out his WWII era kneeboard. Still in use today.

Hello sir, I’d say give it a shot.
@Tutor-Gunboss is a great resource. There is a Group Called Military Test Prep that you can join to get you started. I would reach out to @Tutor-Gunboss for further gouge beyond that to help you with your test prep.
I will leave it to him to give you some great information!

I am Beav Klawitter, a new rep for you here at BogiDope.com.
i served on AD as an F-15E WSO (now called CSO).
For those out there looking at age waivers, I entered at age 27 and needed to get an age waiver to apply for UPT.
At the time,’it took a 3 stars’ signature to get the piece of paper off of the base.
I ended up getting the age waiver after about four months of fighting for it. It’s a different process now (easier) but if you need coaching/motivation to never quit…I can offer that IT CAN HAPPEN!

Let me chime in here. I am a retired F-15E WSO. Here is a huge piece of advice about ratings that I wish I knew years ago. You will need them in order to count any hours you get in the back seat to PIC time.
Having a PPL- SEL and PPL- SEL with an instrument rating (and high performance btw) would help you immensely in this process.
I am unsure about the skyward and what they plan to do with the stick, throttle and instrumentation…but that will matter. This will come in handy for you post your military service in the case that you don’t upgrade to the front seat at some point. Always keep your options open.

@D.J. I am hoping to have those stats soon; I have to caveat that with it changes every year…so they are guidelines; This should not put you on the sidelines!

Sean,
Awesome to have you. Sounds like you have a decent plan. As far as your rushing different squadrons, you may want to expand your horizons when you get closer to the date. As you will find, once you have a good AFOQT score, and a good combined PCSM score, you may rush several units before you get an interview.Remember that you won’t need the R-ATP to apply to a squadron; You can use that as your backup plan if needed to go to the airlines. The max flight hours that make a difference to your entrance score, starts to taper off at around 60 flight hours (Current as of 2021).
If you do get into the military and want to continue to the airlines the minimum to join the airlines drops to 750 hours. Military flight training will get you a Commercial License FAA equivalent so the R-ATP mins are different for those exiting the military.
We have several coaches on here that have done that, so feel free to reach out if you have questions.
We look forward to helping you,

Well, as the layout plan becomes more clear about which ANG unit they will go to…you might change your mind!
The divesting of A-10s will shake our world….and frankly I do hope they change their mind on that.
A-10s have an amazing capability, and none of the other production fighters can match that with its titanium covered parts, being low and slow and putting bullets on forecraniums. -

@C.J. I am not sure, but for us Strike Eagle babies, we hope so. The banter is get enough to replace the 26 that have the 220 motors (20,000 pounds of thrust per side for 40,000 pounds total) in them. That gives you a thrust to weight ratio of 1:2 when heavyweight. Max takeoff weight 81,000 pounds.
These oldest F-15E tails I think are from 1987.
These new aircraft upgrade the Electronic Warning, engines and other characteristics; plus have the GE-129s that boast 29,000 pounds per side (58,000 pounds total). In most configurations that we ran, that would be close to 1:1 thrust to weight ratio after weapons release.
The Air & Space Article suggest a buy of 18s F-15EXs in FY 2025;
I am not sure where they will end up.

Chainsaw, I also encourage people to start the networking process pre-rush. Our aviation communities are smaller than you think. You run into each other at Red Flag, Cope North and other exercises, not to mention at the airport lounge.
Always think networking!
