Very useful info, Biggs. Thank you. I have a couple questions regarding all the training for guardsmen. I’m 39 and have the opportunity to be a part of the guard unit close to my house. I was in the marine reserves for nine years (got out March 2018) and was curious if anybody knew the leniency for age waivers for someone with my criteria. I also have my PPL and instrument rating with almost 240 hours. I’m currently studying for the AFOQT and hope to take it in two months time. If I get decent scores on the AFOQT Do you think the board will even look at me and consider bringing on someone at my age?
My other question is, if I were to be selected, how is the pay for someone with my years of service? I only ask this because I have a family to support while I’m away and Would like to know how much less or more I would be getting compared to the job I have now, which is around 70 K.
Any insight and advice is greatly appreciated.
