Hot Take: Introductory Pilot Training (IPT)
Air Education and Training Command (AETC) owns most of the pilot training pipeline and appears to be pretty far along to its next evolution of the process: IPT. I attached a solicitation for bids that is available in the public domain (eg google).
Huskyโs Take: Theyโre clearly pretty far along in thier thinking. And it kinda sounds like pilot summer camp. 6 months of and integrated MEL+I . In the dorms learning flying together โ could be great. The value to the USAF is that is reduces the amount of flights needed in T-6s
Huskyโs Hot Take: Seems like a soution in search of a problem. T-6 production isnโt an issue and it wonโt solve the current problem of now (production at the B-course (initial qual for F-16/A-10/F-35 etc)). It will, however, introduce a new variable that could cause issues โ AETC remember when you switched venders for T-38 engine productionโฆhow did that go?
Now youโve heard the word IPT, and you know what โ it doesnโt matter. Youโre still going to end up getting the best flight traninig in the world and youโll love it. It might look different that mine but Iโm not sure I really needed to be working that E-6B during my T-37 low-level. So some change is good.
