        USAF announces IPT!

I think we knew the broad outline but here are quotes from the officials. Looks like TX, or two Arizona locations for now with potentially more in the future. I’m also hearing Pueblo from other sources.

Rumors elsewhere that the T-38 and IFF syllabus will be combined. Frankly, that makes sense to me – the T-38/IFF split always felt really arbitrary and problematic.

What are my thoughts…I have thoughts but too much for here. That sounds like a webinar for next month.

U.S. Air Force Overhauls Pilot Training Again To Increase Pace | Aviation Week Network

The service is sending students to pilot-training schools before they fly on Air Force trainers in a bid to address the lingering pilot shortage.

I am interested to see how this program evolves. Hopefully the Contractors can fill their Instructor positions and keep up with the maintenance required for heavily cycled aircraft.

Previously, having a PPL allowed pilots to skip IFS. This IPT syllabus seems more involved; how is that going to play with pilot certs attained before attending training?
