Spinner posted an update
Hello everyone! I’m a current college student looking to fly fighters (any type, any place) for the Guard. I am currently working towards my PPL and I’m slated to graduate college in May. By that point I should have my PPL as well, should I begin reaching out to units and if so how do I go about that without having a Officers package yet?

Spinner,
Your timing is pretty good to start rushing units. Based on the wording of your question, and the reference to “an officer’s package”, you might be confusing things a bit. Basically, you need a college degree, AFOQT and TBAS tests and some flight time (although not mandatory) to submit an application. There will be a few other items but those are the essentials. If hired by a unit, they will send you to Officer Training School and then on to pilot training.
So yes, start trying to make connections w/ the units you’re interested in now and get ready to apply as soon as you’re ready. I would recommend completing your PPL, at a minimum, to be more competitive but that is not a requirement.
Cheers,
