    From what I have seen in my enlisted Guard time as aircrew, yes they can fight for you. Although it is not guaranteed and it really depends on the unit, they will stick their neck out for you if they see you as an overall great candidate. It’s excellent that you have done your due diligence in the research and consultations with your case. It makes the process at least a bit easier on them, which benefits you.

    Hey, Max! Nice to see a fellow Gamecock interested in some Guard flying. If you’re interested in heading back to the Palmetto State, SC Air Guard has a fighter unit right outside of Columbia: the 169th Fighter Wing. I was a ‘traditional Guardsman’ there while attending UofSC, and it was a great unit. Thought I should throw that out there.
