Hot take: Pilot production.

We’ve been about 1,000 pilots short for a long time now, and I don’t think sprinkling AI dust on the problem with solve it. Nor do I think the problem is perceptions about the guard and reserve.

As I talk to folks it seems like T-38 motors were the issue and as those fixes have fielded the constraint is now fighter metal in the Formal Training Units (FTU). We’re adding 100+ F-35 and 40ish F-15 EXs in the next two years so hopefully the USAF stands up more FTU capacity with that iron coming on line.
