• Thoughts on a BogiDope Podcast? 🤔

We’re always looking for new ways to bring value to the military aviation community, and one idea that keeps coming up is launching a podcast.

Our very own @SIC , a longtime BogiDope coach and proud holder of the “King of Dad Jokes” crown 👑, is leading the charge. But we need your help to shape the podcast’s style, topics, guests, and more.

Here are some questions to kick off the brainstorming process:

      1. What topics would you like us to cover?
      2. Who are the types of people you’d be interested in us interviewing?
      3. What’s your preferred episode length? 30 mins, 60 mins, 90 mins, or multi-hour, Joe Rogan-style?
      4. How would you like the podcast hosted? Single host, co-hosts, or a roundtable format (3+ hosts)?
      5. What aviation and/or military podcasts do you already enjoy?
      6. What non-aviation/military podcasts do you listen to?
      7. Any other suggestions, ideas, or things to avoid?

Share your thoughts in the comments! 🍻

Could be cool to hear stories from peoples rush experiences or interview people from varying units to hear more about unit personalities (life at that location/flying that aircraft, unit-specific traits, etc). That way when trying to learn about a unit you could get some extra insight.

I enjoy the 1.5 hr podcasts, listen to Fighter pilot podcast and afterburner.

Sounds like a cool idea, would definitely tune in!

        • @WAZ I like this idea of trying to interview pilots from different units. Talk about the squadrons history, culture, mission, etc. While I love learning about aircraft, weapons, and tactics there are already plenty of podcast doing that.

        • I think this is a great idea!

          1. Topics could be far ranging, starting with an intro to BD and some success stories. Moving naturally to other interesting topics and current events (NGAD) could help as well.

          2. Interviewing those who have had success, those going through the process, and seasoned vets would be a great way to round out the crowd.

          3. If you can do them, long-form podcasts that are organic conversations seem to be the most compelling (hour-plus).

          4. Alternating between co-hosts (helps with the chemistry and listening of a pod) and adding a third person for interviews sounds appealing.

          5. WAZ said it best, fighter pilot pod, afterburner, and Mover and Gonky Show to add my 2 cents in.

          6. Personally, I listen to more fitness, tech, and business pods. Along the lines of Andrew Huberman, Lex Friedman, etc.

          7. No notes on this item, just try it and see what sticks. We would love to see it!

          • Would be dope to throw in segments like threat/weapon of the day, brevity word of the day, talk about concepts like energy management or pK, etc.

            • This could be super cool with all different type pilots explaining their process and now day to day in their airframe. As much unclass info and flying/training/TDY stories as possible!

              • I think interviewing selects, non-selects, hiring POCs, Chief Pilots and recent graduates would be a huge hit. Ive been to many places and the atmospheres were all very different.
