Some of you may not have been in the military yet but in 2016 a coup was attempted in Turkey to overthrow the current regime. It ultimately did not work and had several consequences. Side note, I actually flew with 3 Turks in my UPT class at ENJJPT but one major effect was the US cancelling the sale of F-35s to the NATO nation after they bought a SAM system from Russia. Since then Turkey has still been flying the F-16 and is one of the largest foreign operators. This illustrates the importance of good partnerships globally
