Draft proposal of FY26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) would cut F-35 purchases by 50%. That would really shake things up in the fighter world. We are already way behind on fighter production and divesting 4th Gen fighters left and right. Maybe this slows the divesture plan of airframes like the A-10. It may also mean we speed up production on F-15EX and rapid development of F-47.
If you are a candidate, start paying attention to these proposals. The NDAA of today and all future NDAA’s will certainly shape your career as a pilot in the Air Force.

Air Force F-35 buy would be cut in half under Pentagon spending plan
The Air Force typically buys four or five dozen F-35s each year. The plan to purchase only 24 would represent a major scaling back.
