Former Growler Bro ANG rejoin
sorry for the double post – new here!
Curious if anyone has ever heard of a situation where a retired jet bro (O-4 with around 1,200 hours, 170 carrier arrested landings, former instructor, and former Growler Mission Commander and Strike Lead, OIR and ORS) – went back in 2-3 years after retirement to fly in the ANG. AMC or ACC. Asking for a friend ???? I figure there are a lot of steps and considerations here, but thought I’d inquire with the brain trust…for a friend.

So believe it or not there is something called indispensability where we bring USAF pilots back from retirement. We have two flying the mighty viper right now (they just leave their walker with the crew chief).
I don’t know of anyone to navigate the process in exactly the way you describe but it’s probably possible. The key will be finding a unit willing to do the paperwork to make it happen. Look for units where you have a strong personal connection or are undermanned.
