IFC at Wright Patterson
Posted by MANDO_ on June 2, 2025 at 12:24 amFinally headed to Wright Patterson for my pilot physical after getting picked up for UPT last October. I’m overall a healthy guy and my current medical history isn’t anything crazy worth worrying about besides a couple broken bones, that don’t have any lasting effects.
Is there anyone here thats willing to share their insight into this as I prepare to head out there next week?
TIA for any and all help!

Broadly I would say. Realize you will have to close any door you open.
When describing your health history stick to confirmed diagnosis. It’s not the time to story tell about every sniffle you had.
Also, realize that doctors make mistakes and that sometimes that diagnosis of asthma was just a bad pollen season. If that happens it is fine to go back to that doctor and ask them to reconsider their diagnosis based on new data.

Awesome, yeah all my pilot co-workers in the RPA career field are like, “yeah don’t bring anything up that’s not diagnosed or written in your record”.
seems like a don’t give them ammunition type deal. So I’m excited to finally head out there. Step 1 to getting to OTS then UPT finally since my selection last October. It’s wild how long this process takes, thankfully the age guidance on UPT has changed now since I’m coming up on that 33 lol.
Thanks man, you stay active in these chats with a lot of relevant information. I hope people realize the info you’re passing is important and knowledgeable.
I’ll keep you posted after next week!

Just try to go with the flow while you’re there as a lot will be out of your control. Your peers are all in a different boat so try not to compare your experience especially if you require more testing or follow up. As long as you get the all clear that’s all that matters! Make sure to spend some time at the museum too it’s awesome. Good luck!

Yeah I feel like naturally I’ll be curious about everyone else. I’ll be sure to focus on my stuff, I already have a flight physical and 2992, just not a pilot one. I’m confident my vision and everything else is good.
I guess I’m more curious/worried about the retina topography check, but I guess I don’t really have any control over that stuff at all. Fingers crossed everything is good and can get their blessings and begin this pilot journey.
thanks for your input man. I appreciate it.

I had one of the moments during my topography checks. “Huh. I’ll have to send this one off to get reviewed”
Ended up being nothing but the waiting was stressful. It sucks and we’ve all been there. Wishing you good luck!
Cheers
