I haven’t taken the AFOQT yet. Is it too early to join?
Nope — it’s actually the perfect time. The Academy includes AFOQT prep strategy courses, and the Pilot Pathway will help you build a study plan before you ever sit for the test. Getting in early means you’re building your competitive foundation instead of playing catch-up.
How is this different from Reddit or Facebook groups?
Reddit and Facebook groups are great for moral support and the occasional helpful thread buried under 200 comments. The BogiDope Academy is structured training built by military aviators and coaches who’ve sat on hiring boards. The interview debriefs alone — real, detailed accounts from real applicants at real squadrons — are something you won’t find anywhere else. Period.
I’m applying to Active Duty, not Guard/Reserve. Is this still useful?
A lot of it, yes. The courses on test prep, interview skills, and building a competitive package apply across all commissioning sources. The interview debrief library and application archive are primarily Guard/Reserve focused, but the preparation principles transfer. That said, BogiDope’s core expertise is the Guard/Reserve path — if that’s your target, you’re in exactly the right place.
Can’t I just figure this out on my own?
You can try. Plenty of people do. Some of them get selected. But here’s the thing — hiring boards are a one-shot opportunity at most squadrons.
