Civil Path to Wings in Air National Guard
Posted by Finesse on March 28, 2024 at 11:00 amHello, All
I am a 17 year old high school senior who has dreams of flying for the guard and traveling the world. I was just wondering if the civil path to wings program applied to the guard. Also, if it does would a college senior with 1,000 hours and a PPL, instrument, Commercial, and CFI/CFI-I be competitive to skip UPT and go straight to the B-course?

Please let me know what you find out! I am in college as a flight student and I am working towards graduating with my CFII. When I graduate I plan on applying to guard units, but I haven’t thought about this route.

As of right now I don’t believe the Air Fore is currently doing this program. They do have a shortened version of UPT called Accelerated Path to Wings where you only fly the T-1 and the whole program is 7 months start to finish. Guard pilots can be in this program depending on what your unit wants. Only person I’ve heard of bypassing UPT was an Ex Army Helo guy who went guard C-130’s.

This is an older article, but might provide some insight into the program.

Hello everyone! Kinda wanted to get this thread re-invigorated again.
I know there are lots of different programs out there that are being evaluated. Has anyone entered or will be entering under the Civil Path to Wings or the Accelerated Path to Wings programs in the next 6 months?
I just flew a trip with someone who is very interested.
Thanks for your input!
