Posted by Beav on June 10, 2024 at 3:05 pmF-15EX tail 008 flew into Klamath Falls last week. Pics to follow.
Fresno is another unit slated to get the Eagle.
Anyone interested in the flying Boeing’s (McDonnell Douglas) newest bird?

Any word on if the EX is slated to Active Duty Squadrons? Saw the flight demo, very impressive!

@C.J. I am not sure, but for us Strike Eagle babies, we hope so. The banter is get enough to replace the 26 that have the 220 motors (20,000 pounds of thrust per side for 40,000 pounds total) in them. That gives you a thrust to weight ratio of 1:2 when heavyweight. Max takeoff weight 81,000 pounds.
These oldest F-15E tails I think are from 1987.
These new aircraft upgrade the Electronic Warning, engines and other characteristics; plus have the GE-129s that boast 29,000 pounds per side (58,000 pounds total). In most configurations that we ran, that would be close to 1:1 thrust to weight ratio after weapons release.
The Air & Space Article suggest a buy of 18s F-15EXs in FY 2025;
I am not sure where they will end up.

Fantastic! They will bring much to the mission, here’s hoping more than 26 make it to the active side!

That’s the number one fighter I want to fly! However due to already having a family and also the fact that we don’t really want to move to either Oregon or California. I have decided to stick to my states ANG. But man what a beautiful aircraft! Hope to see in person one day.

Well, as the layout plan becomes more clear about which ANG unit they will go to…you might change your mind!
The divesting of A-10s will shake our world….and frankly I do hope they change their mind on that.
A-10s have an amazing capability, and none of the other production fighters can match that with its titanium covered parts, being low and slow and putting bullets on forecraniums.-

thats a great point. I still have a few years so maybe by then they will be at a few other places.
I agree with the A-10. My state base has em and I hope they stay. They are supposedly allotted for F-16s in 2027

EX has become my favorite, I’m probably going to go Navy but I’d adore to go to an Eagle unit after that. It’s a beautiful machine, simple and powerful. I wish we’d buy more of them honestly; I can tell they’re going to become a workhorse for the USAF in the future as the capabilities grow more and more.
