Less of a discussion and more informational… All rotary wing U.S. Army Reserve Units are being disbanded. Thus, for rotary wing Army Aviation, only guard and active duty are options. I am still waiting on a full confirmation regarding USAR fix wing units but as of now, I believe they are still operational.

Cherub, on the fixed-wing side you are correct – they are still operational. However, any new accessions (non-USAR rotary aviators) require an exception to policy from the Commanding General of Army Reserve Aviation Command and are not likely to be approved. The plan is to man the Theater Fixed-Wing Battalions over-strength and transition as many Reserve rotary-wing aviators to fixed-wing as possible. Even active duty fixed-wing guys with thousands of hours of fixed-wing time are being told to look elsewhere for Guard/Reserve opportunities, when just a few months back you could walk on to any unit you wanted with that experience level. Dynamic times for Army Aviation…
