  • For everyone applying to the FY25 OTS 01 board, we have up until September 16 to get everything in! Spoke with my recruiter today, he confirmed 16 September is the last day. Best of luck to everyone applying!

    • Best of luck to everyone who has a package meeting the FY25 OTS 01 Board this week!

    • One of the things that I advise clients on often is a multi-tiered approach when applying to Rated Line Officer Boards for Active Duty Air Force. The paperwork and prep-work (medically) is basically the same between the different organizations and time is your biggest enemy. Get all the appointments done prior to your first application window,…

    • Did you know on Active Duty there are opportunities to go on Exchange with other countries and other services? I had the unique opportunity to serve with the Royal Australian Air Force for three glorious years. They flew the F-18F (and later EA-18G) and I was one of two exchange officers that flew from the United States with 1SQN at Amberley.…

      • The exchange tour opportunities are a big reason why I decided to step on the Active Duty Gas Pedal. I would love to fly the EA-18G at NASWI or imbed with another nation’s aviators if given the opportunity!

      • The Air Force has a lot of ways to become an aviator. This may be niche, but if anyone has questions on becoming an aviator (or cross training from one rated position to another) after receiving an active duty commission, just reach out.

I used the AF to pay for my eye surgery after commissioning in a non-rated career field. Then once I received…

        • @_Deez_ How did you end up flying the Growler? Sounds like an incredible opportunity. Thank you!

        • @_Deez_ Are you with the USAF growler squadron at Whidbey? We have had a long history with the EW mission since the onset of the Russian Sam systems in the 1950s.

      • All recruiters, despite the commissioning source you are going through, have to attend the same training. Active Duty Air Force applications will have some of the same components as ANG and USAFR.

Medically you will have to go through the same MEPS process and a Class I physical on both. The latter has to be approved by a Air Force Flight…

      • When in the process should we expect to take the height/weight test? I am on track to be at least 5 lbs under max weight for my height when I take the AFOQT and TBAS, but I have been hearing conflicting information on when we get the measurements taken. Thank you!

        • Got ahold of my Recruiter, tracking AFOQT and TBAS are first, expect to get the measurements taken at MEPS after.

          • CJ, I am glad that they worked that for you; That is pretty typical. Height and weight are done during the MEPS medical. Do your best to be under and stay under weight. Recruiters usually work with their applicants to keep them on a plan to stay under weight or stay over the minimums if you are near the bottom of the weight scale as well.

          • I highly encourage everyone to look into Active Duty if you’re serious about flying and leading. It is my strongest belief that BogiDope lays the foundation for success in much more than just ANG apps. Between scoring well on the AFOQT, writing great essays, and interview prep tactics many of y’all are very prepared for the AD boards.

              • Was going to shoot you a PM, figured it would be better to have your input here in the group. How did your Board interview go and what types of questions were you asked? Looking through the Interview Debriefs, it seems different than on the Guard/Reserve side. Thank you, and congratulations again!
