Job Summary:

This position is located in Duluth, MN. Primary responsibilities include providing flight and ground instruction to Cirrus employees who are current flying club members. The flying club flight instructor will also assist with the safety, recordkeeping, ramp operations, and fleet management functions of the Cirrus Flying Club.

Other responsibilities include acting as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing 14 CFR part 91 corporate flight operations, demonstration flights, ferry flights when needed. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to cater instructing methods to a variety of student types and personalities is a must.

The flying club instructor reports to the Supervisor – Flight Operations.

Essential Duties:

Represent the corporate goals and safety standards of Cirrus Aircraft by promoting Cirrus flying culture through flying club instruction
Organize and teach private pilot, instrument, and commercial ground classes for Cirrus employees in accordance with Cirrus Aircraft policies and FAA regulations and procedures
Enhance flight safety by providing excellent, high quality, and standardized flight and ground instruction
Develop effective methods of safety communication, recordkeeping, ramp operations, and fleet management for flying club functions
Creatively adjust teaching methods to increase the value and effectiveness of each training opportunity. Work effectively with the entire spectrum of Cirrus employees, from production technicians to senior staff
Maintain communication with students as required pre- and post- training
Escalate customer and internal pilot issues to the Lead Flight Instructor
Assist with company standardization flights to ensure company pilots are operating within company standards
Provide flight and ground instruction per standards defined in Cirrus policy and procedure documents.
Operate Cirrus aircraft in accordance with applicable regulations and Cirrus company policies.
Make timely and accurate decisions regarding safety of flight
Manage travel expenses in accordance with Cirrus company policies
Provide excellent and professional customer service
Act as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing corporate flight missions, ferry flights, internal training flights, and demonstration flights
Provide factory tours to customers during the delivery and training process
Process and maintain a deep level of aircraft knowledge and be a model aviator, flight instructor, and Cirrus representative
Perform normal pre-flight and post flight inspections as well as clean, fuel, add oil and de-ice fluid, update chart subscriptions, etc.
Move aircraft safely and efficiently on the Cirrus ramp using the flight operations tug

Required Education, Experience or License:

Current and active FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI and CFII) required
FAA 1st or 2nd class medical required
150 hours acting as instructor required

Preferred Education, Experience or License:

500 hours of total flight time preferred
250 hours acting as instructor preferred
Cirrus experience preferred
CSIP preferred
IFR in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC, and night experience preferred
Associates/Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Aviation, Management, Education or related field preferred

Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:

Proven record of successful flight instruction required
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required
Courseware development experience is preferred
Presentation skills preferred
Professional appearance
