What does it mean to be selected as the alternate?

If you’re selected as the alternate you were so close and if they had more than one slot you’d be going! An alternate is still a good spot to be in but it definitely can be a bummer not heading off to training but be ready! At anytime you could be called to be told “you’re in!”

Being an alternate you’re in the hot seat if something comes back with the primary that is a no-go. Most of the time it’s things found in the FC1 but can also be with the background check or anything else really. Unfortunately if you are not needed, 99.9% of the time you’ll have to re-interview next year too. So keep boosting your resume and gaining great life experience!
