The patriot has been americas SAM for several decades and still does very good work; however the use of these systems, like the patriot, is slightly changing with threats today. As a pilot in today’s military you are far more likely to integrate with these systems than ever before. The JEZ (joint engagement zone) is a way flight systems can integrate with ground systems and you will work with the Army for defense. This article talks about new systems and expanding systems and is a good read to get a bigger picture understanding.
