Night week!
As it is night week at my home squadron I thought it fitting to talk about night time operations as a fighter pilot. Most info pages on all fighters have an expert that reads “all-weather, day and night fighter”. This is very true for the USAF, ANG, and AFR. During normal training majority of flying does happen during the day to flow with life schedules and activities however we operate 24/7 in combat with even more flights at night due to the strain on the enemy. You WILL have to perform the same duties as you do during the day while under “goggs” at night. Here is a good video that dives into really the ins and outs of what it’s like to use NVGs and what it’s like to fly with them.

Awesome post Cage! Traditionally, you can expect 1 week a month to be designated for Night Flying. You’ll have to maintain currencies for Night Landings, Aerial Refueling, etc.
NVGs are great, but they take some getting used to as you lose your peripheral vision, and it’s like looking through a soda straw. However, once you get comfortable, it drastically improves your lethality as a tactical aviator.
