As military aviators we train day in and day out for the possibility of pushing the “pickle button” and an actual weapon come off the jet. We talk about that a lot but never so much the side of the house of threats. As our adversaries start to become more near-peer the “care free” operation we were used to in Afghanistan doesn’t exist.
