What does it mean to be selected as the alternate?
If you’re selected as the alternate you were so close and if they had more than one slot you’d be going! An alternate is still a good spot to be in but it definitely can be a bummer not heading off to training but be ready! At anytime you could be called to be told “you’re in!”

There was a time when we saw a wave of alternates getting the call-up, and it was exciting!
One more way this could swing in your favor is if the squadron scores an extra UPT slot which is more common than you’d expect.
So keep your guard up and stay sharp!
