FOLLOW UP NOTES:
Nola was a blast. The whole unit is a tightly knit community and all of the people there were very welcoming. Having talked to other applicants before applying helped to take some of the awkwardness out of having to get to know 50+ candidates, pilots, etc. My biggest piece of advice is to be humble and be yourself. I hope to get the chance to head back out to Nola.
Thanks for reaching out and following up.

Hey Colton,
I will second what Dunce said and say the key to achieving 90s across the board is practice tests. Magoosh GRE prep for verbal improvement, khan academy algebra 1 and geometry, and learning all the unit conversions can score you a few freebies. I had to take the AFOQT twice to improve my scores. First time around I practiced only exams in the practice AFOQT books. I ended up with:
P-86 CSO-70 ABM-83 ACAD-63 V-48 Q-73.
After a year of rocking those scores and not being competive enough for a fighter unit, I went back and retook the test. This was after I got my private pilot license which definitely helped with my pilot score. I boosted the scores up to:
P-99 CSO-96 ABM-99 ACAD-91 V-75 Q-95
One Huge difference between my scores is I went from taking the test on paper to taking it on a computer. I was able to answer the questions 10x faster and even go through certain portions of the test twice like the instrument, block counting, and table reading.
Best of luck and keep us posted on how everything goes!
Regards,
Chainsaw.

Hey everyone,
My name is Clay Shaw. I’m a 24 y/o male college BSBA graduate from UCF. I’ve been a lurker on the forums and job boards for years now and I am finally nearing the finish line in the application process. I’m from St. Augustine, Florida, where I played lacrosse in high school and was apart of the aerospace engineering program. From my senior year I knew I wanted to be a fighter pilot for the USAF. I worked through college to pay my bills and studied after college to take my AFOQT. My first AFOQT results were not spectacular (pilot 86, cso 70, ABM 83, acad 63, verbal 48, quant 73, PCSM 83). I saved up enough money after graduating college to pursue my private pilot license. I made it to the phone interviews of my top choice in Jacksonville but was passed because my GPA and AFOQT score were not competitive enough. Instead of letting that take me down I studied for months and retook my AFOQT to get the new scores ( Pilot 99, cso 96, ABM 99, acad 91, verbal 75, quant 95, pcsm 99). Now I am living in Tampa, I have my own business, and have been applying to Fighter Units in hopes of getting a slot. Great to meet everyone.

By the way, How was the UPT process for you? I have a few friends who are going AD and are in the UPT process right now.

I was considering doing a 1 on 1 coaching session since I have already purchased the interview prep course. Depending on how I feel before my interview, I might schedule one. Thank you for your response and advice
