Hey Kristin,
I also had a lot of questions scheduling the TBAS with my recruiter. He basically told me I needed to schedule it on my own, which left me really confused. Some relevant background info: I graduated from the Univ. of FL in 2022, completely unassociated with their AFROTC program.
I somehow found out that the UF AFROTC program administered TBAS tests, and so I reached out to the AFROTC program’s email. I explained my situation (that I was not an ROTC grad, but looking to apply to OTS AD for a pilot slot) and asked if they would let me come back to UF and take it with them. I got a response the next morning from a Capt. in the AFROTC program. He was extremely helpful, cared a lot, and worked with me to schedule my TBAS with them about two weeks later. I tested with them on a Friday this past January and got my PCSM scores back within a few hours–an awesome experience and I’m very grateful that UF AFROTC helped me out.
It seems you aren’t having luck with ROTC units so far, but I feel like UF AFROTC was willing to help me only because I am a recent UF grad, and, when I emailed them, I explained my situation very well. I was shocked they would just let me take it right off the street (but Gators always help Gators, thankfully).
Maybe this is something you can try if you have a college/university you graduated from that also has an AFROTC unit offering the TBAS?
I know this might not be super helpful and I only have this limited experience with the TBAS, but hopefully it helps!
