Question: For current RPA pilots looking to go to manned aircraft but went through the URT pipeline (T-6 sim only), do they apply to UPT boards or Rated boards?
We are rated pilots… but never took flight in a real T-6.

2 CommentsI’m just a civilian applicant, but I’d imagine you’d apply to UPT boards since you’d be going through that course.
Clinton, you would apply to UPT boards. Much like a rated Army helo pilot etc.

I’m late to the party… but I was also Security Forces (~9.5yrs), hired at 38yrs old, and just finished MQT. I had an Art 15 when I was enlisted that I had to explain and some units didn’t want to bother. You just need 1 unit to take a chance and say yes. Have you considered becoming an RPA pilot? You’ll have a higher age cap (I believe it’s around 40 years old) and will likely see some action.

There are waivers for most things – you don’t know until you try (and keep trying until you reach your goal). I was told “Thank you for applying but we have selected someone else” more times than I can remember over a 3-4yr span before I was selected by my current unit.
