I’m down at Charleston AFB, SC to be part of the celebration for my best friend’s retirement from the military after 23 years. We had FOUR assignments together flying the C-17 all over the world.
It’s been a great reminder of my 16 years active duty and 5 years in the reserve. I had a fantastic experience on both sides of the fence.
And….I’d do it all over again, in a heartbeat! Though I’m loving retirement, and I like my airline job, in my humble opinion, there is just no substitute for the amazing flying, amazing missions, and most importantly, the amazing *people* you’ll find in military service, active or guard/reserve.
For those of you working towards that position with a flying unit—I wish you all the best on your journey—you’ve come to the right place!!
