It might even stand out in the crowd of applications. I was recently picked up by a hiring board and 2 of my 3 letters of recommendation were written by foreign nationals (one was a CFI with British military experience, and the other was a sports coach who happened to be from another country). As long as they are reputable and speak highly of your character and abilities, you’re good to go in my opinion. Only caveat might be if they’re from an adversarial country like China, Iran, or Russia, then maybe it’s best to pick someone else. Best of luck with everything!

Hey man, the 93rd FS does host civilian UPT boards. They had one last year! Reach out to them and maybe you can get the inside scoop on when they might next be hiring.

I haven’t heard anything about them canceling the board, which was only announced a few days ago. Where are you seeing that?

Hey man, I’m assuming you meant that you already took the AFOQT but are needing some help figuring out how to get on base for the TBAS? Process might be different depending on your location, but I would recommend reaching out to the Education & Training Center at your local air force base. They should be able to assist you in scheduling the test, sending you any prerequisite paperwork you need to fill out to get on base, etc. This was the process I went through to take my TBAS back in May 2024 and it was pretty painless. Hope that helps and best of luck to you!

Florida, Hawaii, South Dakota, California, Oregon, Louisiana, and New Jersey have all had UPT hiring events in the past few months. I’ve heard Idaho may have one later this Summer. Often there’s a late Spring / early Summer hiring window followed by an Autumn / Winter window. There’s no predictable schedule for these things though. Especially now, due to UPT delays for fighter candidates caused by T-38 / T-7 issues. Just keep an eye out, don’t be afraid to reach out to units and ask for more info.

Leave it to Boeing to single-handedly inhibit the dreams of every future guard baby… Keep going everybody! It’s just a bump in the road.

Yes, unfortunately the window closed on June 28th

Hawaii was not published on Milrecruiter; I found out about the opportunity by emailing their recruitment office a few months before the hiring window opened
