    Hey Charlie, Hoff here. I’m a Navy H-60 guy but most dependent-related things are somewhat universal across the DOD. As a married guy, the base may require you to live on base during UPT and FTU. The Navy requires it as long as on-base housing is available and the cost of base housing is just your BAH rate. Pros and cons to both, but at least if you’re on base you won’t have to worry about house hunting. When you arrive, make sure your wife and child are fully enrolled in DEERS, Tricare, and listed as your beneficiaries for your SGLI (if they’re not already).
