Hi Roberto,
I’m a current applicant, but can shine a bit of light here and piggyback off of Smack’s response above. When I started this process, I picked basically 10 units that were highly desirable to me, found their POC on MilRecruiter and then reached out to them. I tried to customize each email with why I was interested in that unit specifically, whether it be their platform, geographic location, or mission. I asked if/when they would be opening applications, and if it would be possible to coordinate visits.
I got responses back from 7 out of 10 units. Most were very nice, and I have some rush opportunities coming up from those emails, and an interview from one that I think directly relates to me showing interest in their squadron.
That said, I waited until I had a baseline of AFOQT and PCSM scores to reach out, as I think it’s beneficial to show that you’re taking the process seriously. As I understand it, a lot of units get correspondence from folks who will never even take the AFOQT and want the easy route in.
Best of luck!
