The guard as a backup.
The airlines are boom and bust. And having the ANG to fall back on can be an important safety net. I nearly got furloughed during COVID and was thankful for a paycheck. The latest news out of Spirit is a reminder.

I agree with Husky on this. I would like to “pile-on” to his comments and say that you never know where the aviation industry will go.
I have been fortunate enough to have both a Guard and Civilian Career. It has not always been easy, but I feel like the good outweighs the things that are tough.
I have had countless conversations with people that have taken civilian aviation positions and wish they would have kept their Guard or Reserve Job as long as they could have.
BL – Hard work and preparation will do well for you in either or both careers. Make good contacts with people. Keep a positive attitude and help each other out on this journey.
As the saying goes “its a marathon and not a sprint”!
Let me know how I can help!
