How we deploy
Deployments are part of the biz, and my best and worst moments have been downrange. Looks like the USAF is moving from the very modular system of the last 20 years and is reinvestigating the composite wing. What old is new again.

ACC Activates Three New Air Task Forces
Air Combat Command activated three new air task forces this week to form the next stage of the Air Force deployment model.

The last Composite Wing that I know of was at Mtn Home AFB, It had KC-10s, B-1s, F-15Cs, F-16CJ, and F-15Es. A fascinating concept. You could pick up and go and have just about every thing you needed for combat.

Unit of the Moment: 345 Bomb Squadron (B-1)
Nothing beat a B-1 flyover! And the Dyess B-1s saw action just this year in Iraq and Syria. This squadron is also have a rush which is a great opportunity in an of itself.

Backgroud: Boeing St. Louis makes the hornet and the eagle. We’re done making hornets so if that line were to close 1) St Louis would lose a ton of good jobs, 2) Lockheed would be the only Fighter Game in town 3) Boeing would…have yet more problems.

Any thoughts on the ANG’s risk exposure? If the RegAF manages to mostly shake the program and leave the ANG with an orphan fleet it could become a large burden.

So the headline sounds negative but scroll down. In the next to years we’re going to field 108 F-35s. That’s aweseome. And someone has to fly those jets – that could be you!

Best day at the Range Ever!
Frankly I thought this was DCS the first time I saw it. Who do I have to be to get 4 cans of CBU, 2 AGM-65 and Gun to just play around on the Nellis Ranges. I love that you can hear the mavericks over the wind noise.

@Husky I wouldn’t expect the Mighty EAAAAGLE to provide CAS anytime soon. It doesn’t have any built-in air-to-ground targeting systems, so the F-15C’s use an iron sight (WWII style), some mental math, and a lot of luck to get even close to being on target.
