So the SC ANG email canceling a UPT board created a ton of concern. But it now seems like more of the exception than the rule. Just look at DC who managed to get an extra UPT (F-16) slot.

It will be interesting to see the ‘ops’ layout. There are a few ARC special ops wings – those wings might get OA-1Ks or the USAF might consolidate them in one or two bases. Elgin? Cannon? Davis Montham?

Pausing NGAD? Well that’s the headline, but the Secretary is careful to mention how committed he is to building the fighter.
The mixed messaging is going to be tough for congress to stomach….unless you are from Missouri or Illinois. I’d expect some hard lobbying from those states to keep the St Louis F-15EX line humming.

Definitely an awesome mission! Mission type seems to be overlooked when talking to some of my clients. The most common thing prospective UPT candidates look at is simply location and aircraft. However, everyone should also do some research on the mission type that each unit performs when trying to figure out which units interest them.

From talking with the Reno boys, not only do you need to be a proficient and current pilot in the unit, but, the process to be involved in the firefighting mission involves an additional level of trust and selection. I think flying in this capacity would be a great honor privilege! Imagine saving business, homes and putting out fires at ~150 ft AGL!

While Air Force 1 gets all the press. There are actually several units based at Andrews. The DC ANG F-16s are there but also DC ANG 737s and USAFR KC-135 (459 ARW)
Definitely keep those 135s in mind for all my DMV and USAFR folks.

Check out this Open Until Filled (OUF) UPT C-5 opportunity. OUFs can sometimes indicate an opportunity, maybe the job is hard to fill, or maybe you won’t have to interview 100 people.
