The pilot shortage.
Definitely a double edged sword. It is a challenge to entry but once you’re in expect a lot of flying!
Here’s a good background piece.
My opinion. We’re at the bottom right now and should see improvement year on year with IPT, T-7 sunrise and more and more F-35s

USAF announces IPT!
I think we knew the broad outline but here are quotes from the officials. Looks like TX, or two Arizona locations for now with potentially more in the future. I’m also hearing Pueblo from other sources.
Rumors elsewhere that the T-38 and IFF syllabus will be combined. Frankly, that makes sense to me – the T-38/IFF split…

I am interested to see how this program evolves. Hopefully the Contractors can fill their Instructor positions and keep up with the maintenance required for heavily cycled aircraft.

Previously, having a PPL allowed pilots to skip IFS. This IPT syllabus seems more involved; how is that going to play with pilot certs attained before attending training?

New Palace Chase?
A lot of pilots, myself included, got to the air reserve component (ARC e.g. guard+reserve) via a program called palace chase. That programs let you leave REGAF 6 months early if you joined an ARC unit.

Hot Pits but with bombs.
Hots pits blew my minds as a Lt. Land, refuel engine running and then blast for anothe sorite.
But more and more we’ll get bombs and gas on the pits.
Same as the hot pits describes above but another team uploads weapons. Its fast too – you’ve got just enoigh time for a bar and an energy drink.
Tritonal + JP8 + caffeine =…
