Hot take: Pilot production.
We’ve been about 1,000 pilots short for a long time now, and I don’t think sprinkling AI dust on the problem with solve it. Nor do I think the problem is perceptions about the guard and reserve.
As I talk to folks it seems like T-38 motors were the issue and as those fixes have fielded the constraint is now fighter…

How we deploy
Deployments are part of the biz, and my best and worst moments have been downrange. Looks like the USAF is moving from the very modular system of the last 20 years and is reinvestigating the composite wing. What old is new again.

ACC Activates Three New Air Task Forces
Air Combat Command activated three new air task forces this week to form the next stage of the Air Force deployment model.

The last Composite Wing that I know of was at Mtn Home AFB, It had KC-10s, B-1s, F-15Cs, F-16CJ, and F-15Es. A fascinating concept. You could pick up and go and have just about every thing you needed for combat.

Unit of the Moment: 345 Bomb Squadron (B-1)
Nothing beat a B-1 flyover! And the Dyess B-1s saw action just this year in Iraq and Syria. This squadron is also have a rush which is a great opportunity in an of itself.
