Having the ticket is ideal, but having hours towards the goal will be enough for some units to take a look. I think solo is probably the minimum table stakes.

Every time I’ve done something cool for my country downrange there has been a killer flying robot (or several) on my team.
If you are coming at this late >35. Consider blending a civilian flying career with ANG RPAs. ATP + Commercial Drone license + TS/SCI = interesting and lucrative work.
