Currently a rated Navy Helo pilot on AD. I am in the process of applying for several rated positions within ANG / AFRC. It is an interesting process and seems to be unit dependent with how they handle you. I have T-6B experience but some of the units want me to go through a refresher training to ensure I am still proficient. One big tip for Navy / Marines looking to make the switch – it is very difficult to receive a conditional release (release from your T/M/S community), therefore; resigning your commission appears to be the only guaranteed method to make yourself eligible to apply to the ANG / AFRC. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions with my Gold to Silver transition. I will post updates here as I learn new information.

Hey man, Kings Point 2014 grad here. If it helps at all, I think you would have a solid shot at picking up fighters in the Navy. A lot of guys are getting out and the updated department bonus is huge – all pointing towards an increased demand signal. The pointy nose community is hurting badly right now. Not to dissuade you, but most of the UPT applicants straight from the Kings Point that I knew only got picked up due to a history of high civ flight hours or they had a major hookup at a squadron (dad was squadron group commander in one case). Once again, not trying to dissuade but wanted to give you an idea of the types you are competing with. Naval Aviation has its ups and downs but I had a blast flying the MH-60R with very few regrets.

I thought it was suspended (besides the U-2).

    CHAOS, Coma,

Not to thread jack since this is an Army discussion but I’m assuming this doesn’t apply to Navy rotary since all Naval Aviators regardless of platform fly the T-6B in flight school? Trying to clarify since I cannot find this information anywhere.

Just curious, did the units you are applying to say that you need to take the TBAS & AFOQT? I thought this was not necessary for rated military pilots.
