Next year may look significantly different than expected for the USAF. The divestment of the A-10 looks to be accelerated by about 2 years, but the F-15EX still looks to be moving forward. Fewer F-35s will likely be procured (sure to hinder the ANG conversion efforts) with F-47 continuing to inch closer to IOC.
The biggest data point here, though, is the cancellation of the E-7 Wedgetail for the US. Already being flown by Australia, it was supposed to replace the E-3 (which is now receiving upgrades). I can only think that this opens the door to joint employment of the E-2D Hawkeye as the C2 platform of the future. BogiDopers flying around in the Hawekeye in the future? Certainly BogiDopers flying around talking to the Hawkeye in the future.
