Hey folks,
I submitted my first few applications for Guard spots the past couple weeks and wanted to know if it’s typical to hear back one way or another from units? Trying to gauge if no news is good news, or not hearing anything back yet probably means no interview.

In my experience having applied at many units, it’s a crap shoot – each unit is different. You can always give them a call to see when their rush weekends are… this will give them a chance to put your face to your name which may help your application get selected. Either way – if this is what you want, don’t give up. Additionally, don’t strike units that don’t select you off your list… sometimes going through the application process a couple times will show them that you really want it. Good luck and Godspeed!

@Clinton understood, I appreciate the feedback! I wasn’t able to rush these two units, so I wasn’t overly confident in getting an interview but I’m planning some visits next month so hopefully better luck.

I agree. 50/50 you get a call back if you are not selected for an interview. Unfortunately there is no standard practice when it comes to call backs. It is unit dependent and has a lot to do with the amount of applicants the unit receives and the amount of time the hiring POCs have to dedicate to feedback for non-selection, right or wrong. BogiDope community is usually a good place to start when trying to gauge whether or not interview candidates have been selected. Do you feel comfortable sharing what unit(s) it is you applied for?
