Hello everyone. I am currently in the process of getting ready to apply for UPT slots coming up this year. Something I’m seeing a lot of is the need for flight hours already achieved. I guess my question is what is the way to work around this? Should I apply even if they require flight hours? I currently cannot financially go to flight school. So what’s the best option for me? I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

      • Rooster,

Flight hours always look good on applications to show your passion for aviation. It also it shows you’re not someone just doing this as a hobby, but rather wanting to make a career out of it. If you can’t get flight hours I would still say play the cards you’re delt and apply (I would not let up though. Keep trying to build your aviation experience anyway you can). Hoping some other coaches with more experience can weigh in on this also! Goodluck!

        • So I do have flight hours from doing the Raven-b program when I was active duty. I was PIC for small drones basically. I think they would count, but I don’t think it will account for 50 hours of flight. One of the units I talked to recently had said that I needed at least 50 flight hours. Do you think I should just apply with what I have and hope that they’ll let it slide, or is it not even worth pushing the application with units that require flight hours?
