• For those who have been hired how long did it take you to get selected? From the time you were first in touch with the unit.

I’ve heard it can take several years of courting a good relationship especially for a fighter unit

    • It totally depends on each unit. I rushed the Idaho ANG and they said that it takes at least 2 years (2 sets) of interviews and rushing before you become a serious candidate for them. That being said it totally depends on your qualifications and how the unit feels about you. Sometimes you just put out the right vibe and they like you so much…

I have been wanting to start a podcast where I would talk with interesting people who are in the aviation field. I have my degree in aerospace engineering and I fly. Gliders mostly. My ultimate goal is to get hired by an ANG unit as a pilot. What do you think the pilots from the unit will think if they see that on my resume, or we talk about…

Have some of you been to Pacific air show in Huntington Beach or planning to?       What were your experiences and do you have recommendations for first time attendees like where to get the best views or how to navigate the event effectively?

      • It’s a great show. Try to get show center if you can, or if you know someone with a boat, I’ve heard it’s incredible to watch from the water.

Is there any Air Force flying unit in San Diego? I was not able to find much online and I though I would ask here. I am visiting the city for a few days

      • Not flying wise at least. There may be some tenant non-flying units, but I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for. The closes flying units would be at March ARB in Riverside. I’d say that roughly 85% of both the C-17 and KC-135 squadrons live south of the base, with probably 35-40% living down in the San Diego area.
