So believe it or not there is something called indispensability where we bring USAF pilots back from retirement. We have two flying the mighty viper right now (they just leave their walker with the crew chief).

Bye Bye T1?
Several articles reporting this week that the T1 is rapidly being retired. Sounds like the intent is to move that training into the simulator as a cost-savings measure to free up more budget for the T-7A. What’s the effect on the pipeline? Hard to say but some upside potential that you might get into your follow-on aircraft sooner.

So that letter is heavy, no doubt.
For context, this has happened before back in 2005-2010. What was true then appears to be true now:
– that the bad deals tend to fall hardest on the REGAF (active duty). Usually the ANG does a pretty good job of protecting it’s spots so the cuts come from allocations that REGAF pilots would have competed…

Don’t wait for perfect!
Sometime perfect is the enemy of good in this process; especially if perfect is going to delay your application.
Consider:
1) You will not get picked up if you didn’t apply
2) Age is genearlly not an asset
3) You don’t know who’s going to apply to any particular board
4) Despite you best effort that first…
