    Hey @RN_Jack,

I’d recommend checking out some of our e-courses to include the Air Force section on Different Paths to Wings (open to public) and the Roadmap to UPT e-course (Members Only). These both should supply a plethora of info on the process.

    Goodluck!

    @Mussels,

First off congratulations, it is no easy feat getting the call that you were hired by an ANG unit! Timeline in regards of hire to OTS or UPT does vary depending on unit. It also varies on if you are prior or non prior. I’ve seen my buddies who are prior Guard Crew Chiefs get to OTS in 11 months from the call.

I’m an off the street Guard C-130 hire leaving for OTS soon. For me from oath to OTS has taken 9 months which includes a month delay due to a FC1 medical waiver.

Things that can delay the process include medical waivers.

I’ll also ante up that traditionally Guard orders are consecutive or very close so you will not sit casual at UPT waiting for a class date like your active duty counterparts. This to be said, it takes a while on the front end getting things squared away and getting orders, but once you start things move pretty quickly.

Feel free to shoot me an email Riley@BogiDope.com if I can help out in any other way! Cheers!

Hey Castle thanks for following up!

Made it through FC1 relatively unscathed! The Docs recommended a small eye waiver for me and it got approved. I plan on releasing an article on BogiDope’s website about my full experience within a week or two!

In the meantime feel free to shoot any and all questions you might have for me on this thread!

Hey Andrew congrats on wrapping up your Army Active Duty time! I have no personal experience here with that transition but know someone who has done it. Although you have Army Wings in the ANG / Reserves your application will be for a UPT spot, not rated which gives you a ton of advantages. You won’t have to attend OTS since you are already an Officer so it’ll look something like getting your FC1 (Flight Physical) then heading to UPT and all the follow on training.

Things are popping off right now, we got additional security clearances, is there anything that would stop you from getting that on your record?

How many flying hours do you have?

    What are your plans post-seasoning?

    Air Force Core Values?

*Showed video through targeting pod of their previous deployment and dropping bombs on adversaries* then asked How do you feel about this?

Jeremy, you’re the man for sharing all these great resources.

I was worried about my eyes and looked into PRK/LASIK but ran into the concern I’d be outside the pre-op limit so decided to try my hand at medical and FC1, etc. without the surgery. Those who are looking into this and have yet to be picked up, just really comb over the pre-op checklist, pre-op limits, and all other pertinent info to make sure you are qualified for the procedure!

Going to FC1 in a few weeks so hoping to fire up a new forum and give a comprehensive report once I cross that bridge!

Those who are Test Pilots and have access to the Webinar Videos: The video titled “How to Ace The AFOQT” (should be under Video Library —> Webinar Videos —> How to Ace the AFOQT) with BogiDope coaches SIC and DUK is packed with so much good information!

DUK goes into a lot of depth on ways to optimize your study habits and practice exams to ensure that when you walk into that testing room, you have no doubts.

Those still trying to schedule these exams: DUK also talks about all the different ways to schedule out your exams in the same video!

Your scores are one of the only factors you can control throughout this process. Your scores are also one of the first things hiring boards see when they review your application. Make sure you do well and don’t let your AFOQT scores keep you from getting an interview with your dream squadron!
